2010

It's a new year full of possibility! What a wonderful holiday season we had. We had more snow than we ever could have imagined. Here in Italy it snowed and delayed us leaving on time from Venice...causing us to miss our connection in Germany...causing us to stay the night in Germany...putting us on stand-by for not one but 2 flights...then luckily getting on a plane only to sit on it for 6 hours while another snow blast went by then the deicing could begin...only to miss our next connection in Florida...then finally making it home...2 days later than planned...2 bags lost but quickly recovered! It was a nightmare of a trip home. Then the snow came to Oklahoma...the land of 2 snowflakes all winter turned into a winter wonderland of several inches and deep deep drifts every where. We were stuck indoors for a couple days...thank goodness we all love and like one another! Then we were off to Vegas...no troubles there! Ahh it was great to hang out with Dale and Heather...man how I miss them. I cried for 20 minutes in the hotel after saying our goodbyes! Call me a sap but I hate goodbyes with my Heather...I think the McCain's & the Fitzpatrick's should just build our own commune someplace! LOL
Then our trip home came too soon. More tears as the goodbyes continued with my family...hopefully in this next year they will all be visiting us here at least once! We are not returning to the states any this year unless we absolutely must. The flight home was nice but you guessed it...more snow! We hovered over Frankfurt airport for a while and then had to be diverted to another airport. Sat on that tarmac a while then headed back to Frankfurt...missed our connection to Venice...hubby had to stand in line for 3 hours to be put on stand-by for the next flight out to Venice after 9 pm (6-7 hours in the Frankfurt airport does not make for a good time), again same two bags were lost and quickly recovered. Finally arriving home at 2 a.m. Again...travelling home to the states is not high on our list after this nightmare! We got our lost luggage this morning.
Now what will this new year bring? I don't have a clue. Resolutions...none. why make something a goal that will only sit on the back burner? I just want to enjoy this next year each day as it comes. Smile at the blessings life brings me and my friends and trudge through the hard times.
Some of my fave pics from the holidays will be up on facebook soon...well in the next week or two anyway. i have to unpack some suitcases, distribute and put away all the Christmas goodies we brought home, and clean things up from the messes we didn't get to before leaving. Oh yeah and make sure I'm well rested from all this jet lag!

WOW! Stressed me out even reading it! Does sound like a nightmare, but so glad you had a great time when you got there. It's nice to visit with great friends like that. And even though we are military wives and some think we should be 'use to it', goodbyes are SO hard. I know I always dread them! Hope you can have a relaxing time at home these next few days.

OMGoodenss what an ordeal with the delays and missed connections. No wonder you're not in a hurry to do it all again :-P Glad you're home safe and sound though and enjoyed your time back home.

Well, now I feel bad. I didn't cry that long. I'll blame it on try to get Dale through traffic. Hugs a million!
