Countdowns

This is the month of countdowns for me. I've only got three that I'm totally focused on though. First there is the countdown until the hubs gets home. Spending all summer (okay so I spent a 3 day weekend in Germany with him and then he got to be home for a whole week and still had to work before he left again...but come on now...I'm counting it as all summer).....so spending all summer without the man of the house (AGAIN) has been less than fun. During those really freakishly hot days I didn't mind so much that he wasn't around cause we would have holed up in the house with the A/C on anyway, but we've been having some really gorgeous days lately and I would have loved to get out on some family outing. Sure I could have just taken the kids and gone somewhere but do I look like I wanna deal with the whining (when are we going home?, I don't wanna do that today!, Kids please stay where I can see you! (that one would be me whining), or the I miss daddy!). Really that just doesn't sound like a ball of fun for me. I would love to say that I've had the best friends ever to keep me uplifted and busy with my kids but of course I haven't (surprise surprise). I'm really beginning to think the golden rule sucks! I treat others how I want to be treated but no one seems to understand that rule apparently. I'm about to toss that one out the window! Anyway back to the countdown...my man returns home in 10 days! I get him for almost a whole 2 months this time before he's off again.
The next countdown is for school to start! Oh hello can a mama get a Amen! Going back to the fact that I've been with these kids practically 24-7 for the entire summer alone I'm totally ready to walk them to the bus stop and wave goodbye (smiling a smallish evil grin as I walk back to my very quiet house for the next 8 hours...can we say BLISS). Today it was school supply day! Glad I went today cause I know those that haven't gone to the states for the summer will be hitting the BX soon and everything will be totally picked over. Once again the BX doesn't keep up with the demand of the teachers for the Mead Primary Composition books; luckily the little one had 2 left over from last year that I just tore out what she wrote on and viola...new comp book ready for all her little writing projects in 1st grade! I bought one regular comp book for her to have just in case there isn't a new shipment of the primary ones soon! We have some new school clothes bought, supplies are all taken care of, backpacks will be loaded, and patiently waiting for the bus passes to come in the mail! Oh these next (here's the countdown) 22 really need to fly by!
My last countdown is small, but it's our next little trip as a family! We're planning a weekend to Cinque Terre (http://www.italylogue.com/cinque-terre). Only a few hours from here but so worth the trip so I'm told! We're working on a hotel right now and have no concrete plans except to be tourists! I'm sure I'll research it a little just in case there is something I just have to see! We're planning for this over the Labor day weekend so that's in about 26 days!
Soon countdowns will be added to my running list for when the hubby leaves again in October and returns, hopefully family visiting, and then of course for our Greek cruise over Christmas!

See, you just need to be stationed with me Les and I could help you out...we could scrapbook, drink wine, and just let the kids do whatever...I think that's pretty uplifting! :) I wish everyone would follow the golden rule myself.

My kids are back to school tomorrow and even though I'm enjoying the thought of being here alone and able to just have some peace, I will miss them so much! I felt like our summer was robbed! Maybe with the move and all.

So glad Scott will be home soon. Sounds like you have so much to look forward to! Oh and your friend going to BAFB hasn't emailed me yet...I'd be glad to help her out!

Does having other people help you count make it go faster? Hope so - I am counting for you!
(Can you tell I am terrible at math and math concepts?!?! lol)
