for my birthday

so for my birthday this year...that was yesterday 02/25...I had a pretty good day. Before 7 a.m. I was already feeling the cyber love with all the emails and FB messages! Plus my hubby was online and waiting for me so he could send his love as well. It was nice to chat with him for a while. We had about a good hour chat once I got the kiddos out the door and on their way to school. I went back to bed and took a long snooze before my meeting.
Two of my besties here took me to lunch...see recent pics on my FB if you want to see my dessert courtesy of Stefano, our waiter (what a crack up)! After a few errands and getting the kids off the bus I made them a nice dinner of breakfast pancakes. They were pretty excited since I added a little smush of Nutella on each one for them. Then off they went to the base youth center for the evening...free of charge for me since I have a deployed spouse. I then picked up another bestie and we headed off to a new place she had found while I was in states over the holidays.
It was sushi...and holy moly it was delish! They first gave us a little dish of octopus. Kinda like chips and salsa but instead a few tenticles in a dish. Never had eaten it like that before...I'm usually a fried calamari kind of girl. But I went for it with a little soy sauce and it wasn't half bad. We had some great edamame...how man how I had been wanting some more of that! I ordered the Tatamaki (at least I think that was what it was called). Fresh tuna, avocado, something crunchy, seaweed and all wrapped up in a pretty rice roll. It was topped with another thin slice of slightly seared tuna and this yummo sesame dressing. Oh lordy it was heaven. We ended the dinner with a great cappuccino.
Gifts! I spoiled myself and ordered some new Vera. There was a sale and I got free shipping so the hubs said go ahead. I got the small duffle bag and the weekender bag in the LIKE A TREE pattern and then a contact case thing in the LEMON PARFAIT pattern...uber cute! From one friend I got a lovely flower arrangement of various green plants and some gorgeous yellow tulips (my fave flower). From another I got a wall vinyl thing with all sorts of words on it but in the shape of a cross to go on my cross wall eventually! And then another friend got me the Courage willow tree figurine and some cooking magazine with awesome recipes in it!
All in all I had a great day yesterday and that made me sleep well and wake up with a smile this morning!
