Back from Prague

We had a great time on our trip to Prague. It's about an 8 hour drive from our house. We had good weather for the drive...some fog and one patch of snow but other than that a nice drive. Our hotel was lovely. We stayed at Chateau St. Havel, which is 15 min. from the main square. We ended up with two rooms so me and the girl got one and the boys took the other. Breakfast every morning and even one way tickets for a cab into town if we wanted them.  Our Thanksgiving dinner meal was on the road and then later at a TGI Fridays. Friday we got up early and headed off to Poland. The town of Boleslawiec is only about 2.5 hours from Prague and my hubby surprised me by telling me he would take me so I could get new Polish pottery! We had beautiful weather in Poland and I brought home 5 boxes of new things! Mostly serving dishes but I got a few new plates and bowls to mix in with my Denby pottery I've had since we were married. Friday evening we ate at the Chateau's restaurant and chilled out. The kids played UNO and I read on my kindle while DH searched things on the computer.
We had talked about going to Auschwitz on Saturday but that was another 5.5 hours back towards Poland and back and we were unsure how they felt about kids in the camp. At Dachau they weren't receptive to the fact we had our kids with us but oh well. So we scratched those plans; it was just gonna be too much driving for the little bit of time we would be there anyway.  We spent all day Sat. in Prague. It was a great day!  Some sun and some cold wind would pick up. The Christmas markets were up and running so we looked at all the stalls there and got some traditional treats to munch on. We walked all over the main strip from the top of Wencesles Square all the way down and across the St. Charles Bridge to the castle at the top of the hill! Our last meal was amazing. We found this monastery that had a brewery and restaurant (Strahov Monastery Brewery ). The beer was awesome (we even bought some to bring home) and the food was delish! I had the brewery goulash made with one of the beers...OMW fabulous!
We stopped in Salzburg on the way home for lunch at the Christmas market there.  Yummo curry brats with some onions and mustard!  The hubby then got a huge apple strudel pretzel and the kids had chocolate covered fruit for dessert!  Then drove on in yesterday evening.  It was a good Thanksgiving trip that's for sure!  Now to upload my pics and get them all edited up!  I'll post a few collages soon and they'll be on FB too.
